Biography
Dizzit Has been a huge fan of electronic music from the first time back in the late 80’s and early 90’s when he listened to my big bro playing hip hop and electro pop and acid house. He then started tuning in to the Essential Selection with Pete Tong on radio one back in the early 90’s and that started my love for house music.

Then, in 1994 he moved to Portugal with his little bro and mother. There he met up with a wicked party crew in Lagos known as Starfish (‘Sta fisch’ Portuguese for that’s cool). They put on some wicked parties out in the campo. He got to have my first try at Dj’ing when he was about 15. A good friend let him have a go on his decks and showed him the ins and outs of Dj’ing. From that day on he was hooked.

In 1998 he moved back to Exeter in the UK and I moved in to a shared house. Luckily for him there were some decks so he started buying vinyl and learning to dj. He started playing at some dirty house parties as you can imagine.

His great love in those days was deep down dirty drum and bass but he was still playing with house music as well. As he hit his late teens he started moving more in to the hard dance scene, thanks to a small Torquay club know as Monastery. He played his first gig at a pub he was working at when he was 18.

He started drifting away from the hard dance scene when he was about 23 and started getting in to the breaks scene. A turning point for his Dj’ing skills was when he began to work at the Amber Rooms in Exeter. He also made a lot of good friends there –big shout out to Seb, Dan, Ami and Gilly and all the JTC crew! He also started up his first night called Mixed-up. OI OI MIXED-UP MASSIVE!!

He is also a keen body boarder and in June 2007 he finished working at the Amber Rooms, sold his decks and went off on an adventure to Bali and Australia.

November 2007 he was back in Exeter and back to work (all a bit boring) but he had found an old sound that he always loved and got back in to. And that was house, techno. Especially minimal techno and Detroit sound. But his biggest problem was – no decks! With the price of vinyl and his low income he decided to whack some Pioneer 400s on the credit card. Then he started using Beat Port and other wicked sites to download his music from. In his eyes the biggest benefit from downloading tunes is that the selection of music you can choose from is endless.

He is now working at Exeter Phoenix. And he has a wicked scene going on at the Phoenix called the Dark Knights. It only happens from April to September the first weekend of every month and is outside on the terrace (as long as it’s not raining). And is fast becoming one of the best party scenes in Exeter. He also has a weekly radio show on Southwest Underground – www.southwestunderground.co.uk - check it out!
