From the beginning, this mix had a purpose, and we may never get to find out what it is, but, it was vital to the, um . . . purpose . . . of . .. you know, the, uh, the uh ,thing . . . mix! yes, that It be worked and worked over and reworked until it fried and frazzled and had a burning, crackling, dubbed-below-scratch identity all its own. I feel like I finally got it there. Everything about the sequence of songs was deliberate, and had a resonance with an idealized portion or scene or transformation in a movie in my mind. The idea of the mix and I guess the purpose [porpoise] was/is [waving, goodbye goodbye], but not so fast, run continuously throughout the film [the porpoise of the heavy mastering and interpolation of affectations are the aural reciprocals of the images, actions, moods and revolutions of the visual lark]. So, take it however you want, it's just one more oddity that I will not try to reconcile into my past or future works.

OK, so what is with this mix?

It was spun out for an original audience of one. One of the wisest men to ever walk the world, and the world he did walk. A friend of my family going so far back that I first saw him for council when I was 8 years old (and already suffering a personal moral dilemma). The world has felt colder ever since he died last year, but reviving this recording helps me to warm the soul. And so, having felt inhibited to speak my own eulogy at his memorial, I can think of no better words to express my devotion to his legacy than the ones he requested from me himself. However, if you might prefer an alternate (and at this time more audience-apropos) suggestion, two days ago I finished re-mastering and writing/recording a new introduction for a piece that was composed specifically for Saul Neidorf (at his request) almost four years ago I rekon. It was an interweaving of recordings along a historical timeline of the people, prose, poetry, theory, applied techniques and artistic extensions of recordings of the spoken word, beginning with Wyndham Lewis reading his 'End of Enemy Interlude' (recorded in 1940 and forgotten along with Lewis apparently until a CD collection of rare recordings of key artists and figures related to Dada and its antecedents was produced in the late '90's - "Futurism and Dada Reviewed") thru an updated re-recording of Gil Scott-Heron's "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" by GenasideII from 2000 (it was specifically Saul's reminiscence over this piece that was the catalyst of an enormous discussion of the recorded word, artists, politics, history and first amendment issues, over which the descriptions and stories of particular people and recordings I related prompted Saul to emphatically request I make a recording (mix) for him. I loved the idea, doing a mix centered on spoken word/prose/poetry/writings/etc. OUTSIDE of the sphere of Rap. Grrrrrrrreat!

With a new, heavily protected citadel of networked professionals protecting and working for the benefit of my my brain and it's long-blockaded diagnosis of Tardive Dyskinesia, I have finally passed the starting line, and though there is no cure, that's only because I haven't been on the 'officially' job . . . until now.
