Biography
Hi thanks for stopping by, This profile has been created to showcase mix’s over the net aswell as allowing you guy’s to hopefully enjoy some quality choons!
BaDBoY has seen moderate local success as a DJ, and has played on a fair few radio station’s as a Hardcore DJ and in later years as a Trance and Hard House DJ.
Back in about 93, already with a keen interest in HipHop and house Music, BaDBoY started to hear the sounds of United dance and other Hardcore events of the day emerging via underground mix tapes and cd packs. The very hard to get hold of United dance one and United Dance Two albums are really what gave BaDBoY the hardcore bug. They had it all, choppy fast paced break-beats, Piano melodies and drumrolls and that awsome TB303 sythesiser sound..
BaDBoY knew from then he wanted to get more involved with music and about a year later bought himself a set of Kam belt drive turntable’s to practice on It didnt happen overnight however, and a lot of hard work, practice and pestering of local stations lay ahead before BaDBoY was given the chance he was so eager for.
In 1996 that first break came and BaDBoY was given a 30 minute guest spot on Twilight FM in Hull as part of the DJ Reverb Hardcore show, It was a success as he aimed to play oldskool hardcore from 92/93 in contrast to the shows upfront vibe and BaDBoY was given a residency on the Reverb show. From there BaDBoY moved onto Rhythem FM again with guest shows to start with, However before the station gained momentum a new larger station was born in Hull.
Heaven 107 FM was Hull’s largest Pirate radio station at the time, with transmissions reaching as far as York, Scarborough, Leeds and even parts of Lincolnshire. It was with Heaven that BaDBoY really became recognised as a hardcore DJ, with a permenant residency alongside a lot of local radio veterans.
The BaDBoY show was broadcast live every sundey evening from 9pm until close at 12pm. With the local success of the station, Dj’s found it hard to keep up with telephone requests or fan mail that we received from there shows The BaDBoY show regularly received in excess of 400 calls in a three hour period along with several dozen letters received each week along with promo tapes and even the occasional VIP tickets to event’s!
After the Heaven FM days, BaDBoY then set up his own independant station, Pure FM. The station had moderate success however did not have the impact aimed for, Several reasons such as the decline in popularity of the hardcore scene along with the inability to find a suitable studia base for the station were the key reasons the station struggled. Another problem was the authority’s clamping down on pirate radio after several large police raids in the city to cease pirate transmissions. It was very hard to maintain an illegal station without the authority’s breathing down your neck. After 9 month’s on air and feeling the need to have a break from things, BaDBoY closed the station down and sold the equipment on, He also took a break from music for several years to concentrate on his other interests in life, mainly Cars and motorcycles!
Playing on the majority of underground station’s in Hull BaDBoY saw moderate success and even commercially released a Hardcore mix cd on a local scale several years ago. Over the last 12 months BaDBoY has been getting back into the scene, This time around with the aim to leave his own mark on the freshly revived hardcore scene, and hopefully release his own material for others to enjoy. future plans include possibly working alongside Ramos and the mighty Seduction..
