Imminent: 1. near, at hand. Imminent, Impending, Threatening all may carry the implication of menace, misfortune, disaster, but they do so in differing degrees. Imminent may portend evil: an imminent catastrophe, but also may mean simply “about to happen”:
Imminent began playing records in the electronic music scene over 9 years ago. He has recently begun performing with digital formats, and is quite comfortable playing Cdj's. He does not use beatmatching software, and is a firm believer in Dj's actually making live mixes. Going digital has allowed him to open up a new wave of creative mixing. In doing so he has found a well respected place among the area's finest musicians and Djs. Imminent always shows respect for the local musicians, and he regularly plays with a funk rock band named Signal One. He provides turntablism (scratching and manipulating of sounds) to add a new dimension to this groups already ecclectic sound. Imminent can also rock the stage in MC format. With the forfathers of our music beginning to pass the torch, Imminent is ready to carry the responsibilty of keeping the music alive as an art form. This is another live recording made at one of my weeklys. I get to play some real good music every saturday @ the Flame Lounge. I have fun mixing up some Trip-Hop and Downtempo and really whatever comes to mind. It's refreshing to be able to play a whole night of non-radio tunes. Drum & Bass compilation. Mixed in the D.J.A.S. studio sometime in 2004. I didn't go at this one alone. I enlisted the help of my friend and accomplice Dj DankOne. This mix represents the "golden era" of D&B. By that I mean, the late 90's through early 00's before things started getting recycled like Pop music. Yea, I said it! It was also recorded using all vinyl, we compiled records reflecting a Sci Fi theme, and it turned out to be an incredible sounding project. We didn't widely distribute this mix. It was mostly absorbed by the local D&B scene in Florida. I recently bought a new car, and found this mix while going through some old Cd's. I thought it should be shared with you all, and archived before the last copy is lost. Enjoy... |
